We are rongoaa, we are medicine, it is in our bones, our blood, our body, and all around us. We are made up of the same wisdom as the sun, the moon, the stars, the forests, the rivers, and the dirt. There is a natural design that we are all a part of (sacred geometry) and we are meant to move with this rhythm, connected to the maramataka- cycles and patterns- of nature.
Our bodies carry this knowing and are waiting and ready for us to remember. We have fogotten, due to conditioning, due to life’s experiences, but it is time for us to remember. Mirimiri and Romiromi can help to bring to the surface and shift the “new” memories, that we may have been carrying for years, or even lifetimes, creating space for us to return to the natural design.
Insights into the nature of romiromi and mirimiri are revealed
in the reo- the language itself.
· Mi – to stimulate · Ri – to agitate
· Ro – internal organs · Mi – to stimulate
From the outside looking in, mirimiri and romiromi might appear as physical manipulation of the body and deep tissue massage using pressure points, reorganising the internal organs, regulating the nervous system, but it is infinitely more than that.
The healing is not passive. It is a dialogue with the body, listening to the stories it holds, both new and old. We listen and find the rongoaa, the medicine, the wisdom of these experiences, and thus remember our own artistry,
our own unique gifts. In this sacred space we reclaim our mana (authority), and step into tino rangatiratanga (absolute sovereignty) empowered to stand in truth and be potent change-makers.
I am a Māmā and a traditional bodyworker with a background as a teacher working with children for over 15 years.
I now create sacred spaces with mirimiri and romiromi for
the mokopuna-grandchildren (human beings) of Papatūānuku- mother nature, to reclaim their mana and come into union with their own medicine from their internal depths and surrounding widths
to live in wisdom, truth and beauty.
My work is centred around honouring the wisdom of the body and nature as a pathway to loving self, others and the natural world and living in union with spiritual lore.
I am guided by the lore of nature and spirit, and intentionally opening to, and moving with, cycles in and around us.
It is my personal life work to weave all of this into my
life and the hearts of my babies.
